IF you are able to connect and the system allows you to make changes, but you can not see the changes try here instead.

Usually there will be some sort of error message. Most of these issues will need to be addressed by your hosting provider.

The most common reasons you would be unable to make a change after being able to connect are:
1) The server is full, you have used up the amount of disk space allocated to you, or you have no disk space for storing. Usually this will give you an error message of:
552 or Exceeds storage allocation,
452 or Requested action not taken- Insufficient storage space,
532 or Account needed for storing files.
550 or Disk space full / Server space full.
You hosting provider needs to look into this for you.

2) Since hosting providers can be held responsible for illegal files stored on their servers, they may block certain types of files such as .mp3 or .exe files to protect from people trying to upload copyright materials. You may get the error message- 553 or File name/type not allowed. Some hosting platforms are unable to support special characters or double bit characters in the file name. Trying to upload a file with a & could cause this type of an error.

3) Permissions or user association. If the files do not have the proper permissions or have been dis-associated with your user account, then the system will not allow you to make changes. You may get an error similar to - 550, File unavailable- file not found - not accessable

4) If you receive a message 450 or File unavailable - file busy, this is usually when multiple people are trying to access the same file. See who else might be making changes to the file and try again when they are finished.

5) If you are attempting to make direct changes via your FTP client, try downloading the file first. Make changes and then uploaded the updated file. Some Firewalls and Anti-Virus systems will prevent direct editing.
